Where did sin begin or originate?With the devil. It’s in the Bible, 1 John 3:8,NKJV. “He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

  • Some examples of works of the Devil: 1. Unbelief. 2. Fear. 3. Domestic strife (husband/wife; parents/children; masters/workers. 4. Destroys love. 5. Unhealthy ambition. 6. Alcohol problems. 7. Drugs. Etc, etc.

Satan has been a murderer and a liar from the beginning. It’s in the Bible, John 8:44,NKJV. “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

  • Let us analyse a bit more of our Lord’s description of the Father of lies.

Where did Satan come from? Satan was once an Cherubim in heaven. It’s in the Bible, Revelation 12:7-9,NKJV. “And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”See also Luke 10:18 Jesus speaking  NKJV. “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.”

  • Let us read again of the different names to Satan.

Satan will not be able to accuse the brethren any longer. It’s in the Bible, Revelation 12:7-10,NKJV. “for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.”

  • What a wonderful day that will be when Satan will not be able to accuse the children of the Lord.

  • But what is scary as we read in verse 9 “he was cast to the earth” verse 10 “has been cast down.” Terrible time for those who stays behind to go through the ‘tribulation’ period.

Why did God create Satan? Satan was not created sinful. He was created perfect and chosen to be closest to God out of all the angels. It’s in the Bible, Ezekiel 28:14,NKJV. “You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; you were on the holy mountain of God; you walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones.”We going to study further in our next teaching lesson SAT-02 Why did Satan rebel?
